Le D-3801 (Morane 406 fabriqué sous licence en Suisse) de l’association Morane Charlie Fox, arbore une nouvelle décoration. Il porte les couleurs du Morane 406, matricule N458, no 138, qui était piloté durant le mois de mai 1940 par le Commandant Marcel COADOU, Commandant en second du Groupe de Chasse  1/2 Cigognes.

D-3801 (Morane 406 manufactured under licence in Switzerland) of association Morane Charlie Fox, raises a new decoration. It carries the colors of Morane 406, N458 number, No 138, which was flown  during May 1940 by Commander Marcel COADOU, Second in command of the Fighter squadron 1/2 Cigognes.

Le Commandant COADOU, as de la première guerre mondiale crédité de neufs victoires, est d’ailleurs le créateur du premier aérodrome de Nord-Bretagne, sur la plage de Saint-Michel-en-Grève, en 1931.

La tradition de peindre une bande tricolore, qui distinguait les as du premier conflit, a été reprise sur le  MS 406.

The Commander COADOU, ace of the First World War credited with nine victories, is besides the creator of the first aerodrome of Nord-Bretagne/France, on the beach of Saint-Michel-en-Grève, in 1931.

The tradition to paint a tricolour band, which distinguished the aces from the first conflict, was taken again over the MS 406.

L’avion du Commandant COADOU provenait de l’ « Escadrille de France » Il était financé par une souscription nationale par chaque département. Les appareils ainsi financés ont équipés les escadrilles 1/7 et 1/2.

The plane of Commander COADOU came from the “Escadrille de  France” It was financed by a national subscription by each department. The airplanes thus financed equipped the escadrilles 1/7 and 1/2.

L’avion (HB-RCF) a été révisé et restauré tout au long de l’hiver passé, dans les ateliers de Mobile Air Service SA de Bex. L’avion a été entièrement démonté de la cabine à la dérive (tôlerie, entoilage, etc.).

De plus, le saumon d’aile gauche a été re-fabriqué. Quelque 1000 heures ont été nécessaires pour mener à bien ces travaux.

The plane (HB-RCF) was revised and restored throughout the winter spent, in the workshops of Mobile Air Service SA of Bex/Switzerland. The plane was entirely dismounted cabin with drift (sheet-iron works, entoilage, etc).

Moreover, the wingtip of left wing was re-manufactured. Some 1000 hours were necessary to conclude this work.

Ceux-ci ont été réalisés les week-ends, en dehors du travail habituel de Daniel KOBLET, Laurent CALAME et de son équipe. Le coût de ces travaux est incalculable et une facturation des heures mettrait en péril la survie de ce chasseur, unique au monde.

Those were carried out the weekends, apart from the usual work of Daniel KOBLET, Laurent CALAME and of his team. The cost of this work is incalculable and an invoicing of the hours would put in danger the survival of this fighter, single in the world.

Les travaux de peinture ont nécessité environ deux mois de recherches et de documentations. Il a été particulièrement ardu de trouver les bonnes teintes. Un week-end complet a été consacré à la création du nouveau schéma de camouflage.

Work of painting required approximately two months of research and documentations. It was particularly difficult to find the good colours. One complete weekend was devoted to the creation of the new diagram of camouflage.

L’avion est principalement engagé sur des meetings de l’Armée de l’Air française et ne vît que grâce à cela, d’où le choix de la décoration.

The plane is mainly committed on meetings of the French Air force and saw only thanks to that, from where the choice of decoration.
